3 Players LSG might release ahead of the IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) endured a fantastic run in their debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The terrific season for the Lucknow based franchise, though, ended in the eliminator, the franchise would be pretty happy with the way they played and performed throughout the competition.

KL Rahul-guided Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished third in the points table after the league stages and lost the crucial eliminator to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eden Garden, which marked their exit from the cash-rich Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen.

Considering it was their debut season, the franchise and the fans would be happy with how the things panned out for them. Though Lucknow had a fair chance to advance to the qualifier 2, in place of RCB, sloppy fielding put the franchise down in the important match.

Nevertheless, the franchise now will be looking forward to the next season of the tournament. The IPL 2023 will be crucial for several teams, especially for Lucknow after missing out on the IPL 2022 final by a whisker.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be retaining most of their players for the Tata IPL 2023, just like any other team, however, a few players will receive an axe either due to their poor performance or for their hefty and unjustified price tag.

This article will take you through 3 Players LSG might release ahead of the IPL 2023.

3 Players LSG might release ahead of the IPL 2023:

Andrew Tye:

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) roped in Australian pacer Andrew Tye as a replacement for injured Mark Wood for the Tata IPL 2022. Wood sustained an elbow injury and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament.

Andrew Tye was expected to fill in the big shoes of Englishman Mark Wood, however, the pacer had a forgettable outing in the limited opportunities he received. Tye featured in three matches, in which he scalped just two wickets and leaked runs at an economy of 9.73.

Except for the one season with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018 where he emerged as the purple cap winner, Andrew Tye has looked pale in his performances in the IPL.

The Aussie pacer is likely to get released from the Lucknow squad ahead of the IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bagged the services of experienced Indian batter Manish Pandey by spending a whopping sum of INR 4.6 crores during the player auctions, however, the batter hasn’t been able to justify his price tag.

Manish Pandey managed to score 88 runs from his six outings for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 at a poor average of 14.67. Moreover, his strike rate was also worrying (110.00).

LSG might release him ahead of the auction and then try to pick him up at a much cheaper cost during the IPL 2023 auctions.

Evin Lewis:

Trinidadian cricketer Evin Lewis also had an unmemorable season in the Tata IPL 2022. Lewis could only score 73 runs for LSG from six matches. The batter scored with an average of 24.33 while his strike rate hovered around 130s.

Lucknow might look to release him ahead of the IPL 2023 auctions. The franchise picked his services at a base price of INR 2 Crores during the last player auction.
