Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Put into bat, Hyderabad struggled to score big and managed just 156 for nine, in response, Lucknow chased the target with one ball to spare.

SRH had a horrible start to their innings as Mohammed Shami was at his best and made mockery of Hyderabad's top-order. Prince Yadav supported him well as Hyderabad was reduced to 26 for four with Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Liam Livingstone getting out.

It was then when Heinrich Klaasen (62) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56) soaked in all the pressure and brought the innings back on track. They took some time to get going and then unleashed themselves with both hitting half-centuries.

The Klaasen-Reddy duo added 116-run stand for the fifth wicket that set the platform for 170+. However, Lucknow bowlers came up with a brilliant show in the death and restricted Hyderabad to 156 for nine.

Lucknow lost Mitchell Marsh early, but Aiden Markram (45) was at his fluent best. He put Hyderabad under pressure; however, his wicket brought the home side back into the game. Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran failed to make a mark as Lucknow were reduced to 105 for four.

Captain Rishabh Pant (68*) held one end up and kept the run rate in check. He hit a valiant half-century and ensured that he took his team home as Lucknow chased the target with five wickets in hand.
