Dinesh Karthik reprimanded for breaching the IPL code of conduct against LSG: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reprimanded senior Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik for breaching the IPL code of conduct during his side’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Kolkata’s Eden Garden.

Though the BCCI press release didn’t mention the specific breach done by the glovesman, Karthik has accepted the charges against him.

“Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the release from the IPL stated.

Notably, Article 2.3 of the IPL code of conduct suggests the usage of audible obscenity during the match which is audible to the audience either through stump mic or otherwise. This includes using cuss/offensive words by any player in any language during the game.

While batting against LSG, Dinesh Karthik uttered an offensive word out of frustration, which was caught in the stump mic.

Later, the contest was won by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), defeating Lucknow by 14 runs in the eliminator. While RCB advanced to the qualifier 2, debutant side Lucknow packed their bags and took an exit route.
