Umesh Yadav has been on the top of his game in the recent games of the TATA IPL 2022. The tournament is already underway and Umesh has been the spearhead of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling lineup. He has given exceptional performances in all of the 4 games played him. His bowling in the powerplay is making life difficult for the opposition batters. In a recently conducted interview by the KKR team management, Umesh Yadav hinted about his intentions to make a solid comeback in the white-ball circuit. Here is an in-depth look:

Umesh Yadav Interview in TATA IPL 2022:

Umesh Yadav is a red-ball bowler as believed by many current followers of cricket. When we talk about the Indian test team, Umesh is ranked as the number 5 choice behind, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammad Siraj. But whenever given an opportunity, Umesh has performed. The other Indian bowlers were finding it difficult to get Joe Root out on the India Tour of England 2021, and Umesh on the other hand got him out in his first spell.

In the interview, Umesh said that his career was in a crisis in 2017. Umesh recalled this by saying, “I was the leading wicket-taker for India in the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia. But as soon as that stint ended, I was dropped. The last I wore blue was in 2016.”. When asked about how he feels regarding that, “I feel that this is how life is but am also disappointed that I was not given any other chance. I have been tagged as a red-ball bowler. But I believe I have a lot of white-ball cricket left in me.”, he added.

When asked about how he feels to represent India, he said, “I come from a place where people don’t even think about cricket. My father worked in coal mines to feed us. Day-in-day-out, my father and mother worked hard. No one would ever believe that a kid from that background has made it to the Indian cricket team, he said.

Umesh Yadav Stats in Recent IPL Matches:

What works in the favor of Umesh Yadav in the absence of Deepak Chahar and the fluctuating form of Shardul Thakur. Shardul and Deepak are the competition that Umesh has for getting picked in the white-ball circuit. Deepak is out of the game due to injury and Shardul Thakur is not in their prime form. In their absence, Umesh has made a very strong case for himself in TATA IPL 2022.
