“Rachin Ravindra has returned home to begin his red-ball preparations for New Zealand’s upcoming Test tour to England,” the franchise stated.

The left-handed batter and spin-bowling all-rounder was bought by KKR for ₹2 crore during the IPL 2026 mega auction held last December. However, despite arriving with strong expectations, Ravindra surprisingly failed to feature in a single match this season.

KKR’s overseas combination left little room for experimentation. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green locked down the No. 3 batting position, while fellow New Zealanders Finn Allen and Tim Seifert were preferred as opening options throughout the tournament.

As a result, Ravindra remained on the bench despite being one of New Zealand’s brightest multi-format stars.

Ravindra’s Absence Raises Questions Over KKR’s Team Strategy

Many fans expected Ravindra to get opportunities during the middle phase of the tournament, especially when KKR struggled for consistency in both batting and bowling departments. However, the management continued with a settled overseas core.
