According to reports, the agreement was finalized after RCB CEO Rajesh Menon and BCCI joint secretary Prabhtej Bhatia met Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in January 2026.

The meeting reportedly focused on promoting cricket in central India while also ensuring RCB had a contingency plan ready if Bengaluru clearance issues continued.

The arrangement benefited both sides.

For RCB, it provided certainty and logistical stability before the season.

For Raipur, it brought IPL cricket back to the city after several years, generating huge excitement among local fans.

RCB’s Official Statement on the Venue Change

Ahead of IPL 2026, RCB released an official statement confirming that the team would play five home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium while the remaining two would take place in Raipur.

Between 2013 and 2016, the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium served as the second home ground for the Delhi Daredevils franchise, now known as Delhi Capitals.

During that period, the stadium hosted six IPL matches.

Interestingly, RCB also played at the venue once in 2016, defeating Delhi by six wickets.
