IPL 2026 points table after KKR vs RR, match 28: Rinku Singh's dazzling return to form takes Kolkata Knight Riders to their first win

KKR vs RR clash of IPL 2026 saw Rinku Singh returning to form. 

Kolkata Knight Riders finally registered their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They beat the Rajasthan Royals by four wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. Opting to bat, Rajasthan struggled to score big and managed 155 for nine, in response, Kolkata struggled as well but managed to get past the finishing line in the last over.

Rajasthan openers in Yashasvi Jaiswal (39) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (48) continued their good form and provided yet another crucial start to their team. Their 81 runs opening stand set the platform for big total.

However, Kolkata made a strong comeback and didn’t let Rajasthan middle order score runs freely. Spinners in Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine combined to pick five wickets between them as none of the Rajasthan bowlers, except for the openers, crossed the 20-run mark. Thanks to their heroics with the ball, Kolkata restricted Rajasthan to 155 for nine.

Kolkata had a worst possible start to chase as Tim Seifert fell on the first ball of the innings. His wickets opened the floodgates for Kolkata as they kept losing wickets quickly. Cameron Green (27) tried to counter-attack but got out, thanks to the brilliance of Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps.

Rovman Powell (23) had start but fell at a crucial juncture of the game as Kolkata were left reeling at 86 for five. With the team under pressure, Rinku Singh (53*) and Anukul Roy (29*) came up with the rescue.

While, Singh returned to form with a superb half-century, Roy supported him brilliantly as their 76-run partnership took Kolkata to win in the last over.
