The team that the Punjab Kings have assembled looks amazing. It is an IPL-winning team. They have all the basics covered. But rarely has there been a year where the Kings have not had a squad that couldn’t win the trophy. Anyways, how does the team shape up this season? What does it look like? Strengths of the Punjab Kings in IPL 2022: 

The strength of the team is their Indian batting core. They have names that are always a part of the Indian team. Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, Shahrukh Khan, are all experienced players. Shahrukh has been the best finisher in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for over 2 years. They have all their bases covered. Their bowling unit looks sorted with Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, and Arshdeep Singh. The opposition will find it difficult to score runs at the death with the duo of Arsh and KG Rabada in the mix.  

Weakness of the Punjab Kings: 

There are no evident weaknesses but we can knit pick a few. If Shahrukh bats number 6, they need someone solid at number 5. To avoid this issue, they need to solve the problem with players like Rishi Dhawan and Odean Smith. Their second Indian seamer looks like a point of concern. Ishan Porel hasn’t been the best in whichever game he has got. Sandeep Sharma on the other hand is not in the prime of form.  

Opportunities for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2022: 

The most important and big change is for the Punjab Kings to win the title. Never before have they had such a settled team. The team has the experience of Dhawan and Rabada and the youth of Arshdeep and Shahrukh. With India looking for a finisher always after the departure of MS Dhoni, Rishi Dhawan and Shahrukh Khan can make a case for themselves. Rishi Dhawan led the HP team to victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with good performances, he can make a dream comeback to the national team.  

Threats for the Punjab Kings: 

The threats include the availability of players. KG Rabada has national duties with South Africa and Jonny Bairstow has them with the England team. If both these players miss out on the initial few games, it can cost the Punjab Kings. The other threat is injuries. Apart from that, the number 5,6,7 positions need to be cleared out. For these 3 positions, they have 4 options. Sharukh, Rishi Dhawan, Odean Smith, and Jitesh Sharma.
