The IPL 2022 season has begun. The teams have already given us several electrifying moments. One cannot easily forget the catch of Shubman Gill and the epic innings of MSD in the first game of the IPL 2022 season. The tournament, on Thursday, had one of its most amazing games. The Lucknow Super Giants took on the Chennai Super Kings. The men from Chennai had an amazing outing with the bat. The game was in favor of the yellows before Ewin Lewis slammed the “fastest 50” of the season in 23 balls. LSG won by 5 wickets in hand. Here is an in-depth look:

CSK VS LSG, Chennai Super Kings Batting Innings:

The toss was won by the Lucknow Super Giants. Keeping in mind, the dew that falls on the Brabourne Stadium, KL Rahul chose to bowl. He invited the men in yellow to the pitch. The Super Kings had Moeen Ali back and was playing only 3 foreign players. LSG on the other hand had Andrew Tye in the 11. The innings began with Robin Uthappa coming out to bat alongside Ruturaj.

Ruturaj was out in one of the most unusual dismissals when he was run out while wandering outside his crease after playing the ball to a short point. Credit to Ravi Bishnoi for his presence of mind. CSK was 28-1. Robin Uthappa was vintage Robin on Thursday. The veteran slammed the LSG bowlers like he was mocking them. His signature down the track “slap over the bowler’s head” was also visible. Moeen Ali partnered with him well. He was sent back by Ravi Bishnoi when he got trapped LBW. Shivam Dube then walked in at number 4. He played one of his top innings yesterday. Shivam got 49 of 30. He was looking in good touch. But just before the 18th over he perished.

MSD and Jadeja did the finishing duties. On the 18th over CSK was at 179. In the next two overs, the duo got CSK to a humongous 210-7. MSD hit his first two balls for a 6 and 4 respectively.

Brief Scores:

  • Robin Uthappa: 50 off 27 balls.
  • Shivam Dube: 49 off 30 balls.
  • Moeen Ali: 35 off 22 balls.
  • Ravi Bishnoi: 2/24.

IPL 2022, CSK VS LSG, Lucknow Batting Innings (Run Chase):

The Lucknow Super Giants never looked worried about the humongous total. KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock never looked under immense pressure. He walked in and began smashing the CSK bowlers like it was a cakewalk. KL played an exceptional knock. He looked like he would single-handedly take the game away. At the end of the powerplay, LSG was 55-0.

Before much damage, Dwaine Pretorius came in and flipped the game in favor of the Tamilians. He took the wickets of both the openers. KL: (40 off 26 ) LSG were 106-2. Manish Pandey too couldn’t hang in for too long. After his departure, LSG was at 139-3. But Ewin Lewis was in the mood. Lewis was feeling it. After a lot of criticism that Lewis is just a leg-side slogger, Ewin proved he is much more than just a pinch-hitter! Ewin brought out a few illustrious drives. He was playing looking a class apart.

The last two overs of the game had come in and LSG required 34 or 35. Here Ewin had calculated that Bravo was done with his quota, Pretorius was done with his quota, so Jaddu or a new non-regular bowler had one over left. His calculation was perfect as Shivam Dube came to bowl. Ayush Badoni very smartly just gave Lewis the strike and had a look at the West-Indian slamming Shivam for 25 runs in the over! In the final over of Mukesh Chaudary, LSG required 9 runs. The youngster under pressure bowled 2 wide balls. The game was done and dusted there! Ayush Badoni hit the next ball over square-leg for six! LSG sealed the game.

Brief Scores:

  • Ewin Lewis: 55 off 23 balls.
  • KL Rahul: 61 off 41 balls.
  • Quinton De Kock: 55 off 23 balls.
  • Dwaine Pretorius: 2/31.
