IND vs ENG, T20 World Cup 2022: On November 10, Thursday, India will be locking horns with England in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2022, which is scheduled to be played in Adelaide today. The Group 2 topper Rohit Sharma-led team India will face second-to-finish Group 2 Buttler-led team England to fight Pakistan in the finals.
The Men in Blue have won 4 out of their 5 matches in the super 12. India first hunt down the arch-rival Pakistan by 4 wickets, then took down the Netherlands by 56 runs, South Africa was the one India lost to but Rohit and company came back stronger and slaughtered down Bangladesh and zimbabwe by 5 runs and 71 runs respectively.
On the other hand, England won 3 out of 5 and one was washed out by rain. England put down Afghanistan in their first match and then surprisingly Ireland upsets England by handling them a 5-runs loss. Next England vs Australia was washed out by rain and a 20 runs win over New Zealand and 4 wickets win over Sri Lanka put the Buttler and army into the semis.
The Indian team will be hoping that skipper Rohit Sharma comes out with all guns blazing on the big occasion. Rohit has been able to score only one half-century so far. Also, it remains to be seen what the management decides with regard to team composition in the spin and wicketkeeping departments featuring Ravichandran Ashwin- Yuzvendra Chahal as well as Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant.
For England, all eyes will be on David Malan, whose availability for the semi-final clash is still uncertain. Meanwhile, pacer Mark Wood has emerged as the latest causality in the England camp. According to a report in Sky Sports, the bowler did not participate in the optional practice in Adelaide.
If we compare India’s and England’s players head-to-head, there is almost equal depth and an equal amount of firepower. Coming to bowlers, here England have an edge in the name of Mark Wood. But England is dealing with some injuries as mentioned earlier, so it’ll be a good competition to watch.
