CSK’s Deepak Chahar ruled out of the Tata IPL 2022 due to back injury: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) strike pacer Deepak Chahar has been completely ruled out of the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after getting injured with a back injury. The pacer was expected to make his return anytime midway through the tournament, however, his recent injury concerns have put all the anticipations to rest.

Deepak Chahar, who was purchased by Chennai Super Kings after shelling out INR 14 crores during the mega auctions, has reportedly picked up a back injury during his rehabilitation period at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore.

Notably, Chahar was undergoing his rehab at the NCA after suffering a right quadriceps tear during the West Indies T20I tour of India in February.

Though it was reported that Chahar would take time to recover from his quadriceps tear, the quick recovery of the speedster kept Chennai Super Kings (CSK) optimistic about his comeback in the IPL.

The recent development would further dent CSK’s chances of a comeback in what can be called a faltering campaign in the Indian Premier League. CSK entered the elite T20 tournament without their lead pacer and has endured four consecutive losses in the tournament.

As of now, the franchise hasn’t announced any replacement for the pacer. If the reports are to be believed, CSK may prefer going with the likes of Ishant Sharma or Dhawal Kulkarni, who are the only viable option available.

Experienced Ishant Sharma is more likely to get a nod ahead of Dhawal Kulkarni purely because of his powerplay bowling abilities. The pacer can swing the ball and fetch up wickets upfront, which Deepak Chahar used to do in CSK.

Ishant has scalped 73 wickets in 93 IPL outings in his career. The pacer also has a decent economy of 8.09.

Meanwhile, there are chances that former Mumbai Indians pacer Dhawal Kulkarni might also get a chance to represent the yellow franchise.
