Mumbai Indians are certainly one team that has always made a mark on the IPL. Be it the auction or the game on the field, the Mumbai Indians have shown that they have what it takes to be the most successful side in the IPL. However, the TATA IPL 2022 Mega Auction was a “blow hot, blow cold” for them. They have made a very brave decision by buying Jofra Archer at 8 Crores. Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer, the bowling for IPL 2023 looks sorted, doesn’t it? Here is a look at the team and its SWOT analysis:

Mumbai Indians final team:

Player Name Position Player Name Position
Rohit Sharma Batter Daniel Sams All-Rounder
Suryakumar Yadav Batter N Tilak Verma All-Rounder
Kieron Pollard All-Rounder Sanjay Yadav All-Rounder
Ishan Kishan Keeper/Batter Mohammad Arshad Khan All-Rounder
Anmolpreet Singh Keeper/ Batter Ramandeep Singh All-Rounder
Dewald Brevis Batter Mayank Markande Spinner
Tim David All-Rounder Murugan Ashwin Spinner
Tymal Mills Fast Bowler Jofra Archer All-Rounder
Riley Meredith  Fast Bowler Jaydev Unadkat Batter
Fabian Allen All-Rounder

Strengths of Mumbai Indians:

The strengths of the Mumbai Indians lie in their fast bowling and their Indian batting core. They have a top-notch fast bowling unit even without the presence of Jofra Archer. Riley and Daniel Sams are two of the best additions. Both have had exceptional BBL performances. Riley is a more tear-away, break-through, quick bowler. Sams is more dependent on the swing. Jasprit needs no explanation. Tymal and Jaydev bring in the much-needed experience. They have the 3 best names in Indian batting, Rohit, Surya, and Ishan.

Weakness part of Mumbai Indians in SWOT analysis:

This is one of the most important parts of the SWOT analysis. Mumbai Indians should have bought at least one more batsman, or to say an established batsman. Dawid Malan at 2 Crore, Karun Nair, Morgan, or even Raina to say. Mumbai just has 3 stalwart-batters and heavy dependence on all-rounders. Well, this has always been their strategy but with Tim David and Sams being less experienced, you never know when things go downhill. This is a big void. Hope they fill it in the mid-season exchange window.

Opportunities part of the Mumbai Indians in SWOT analysis:

Tim David has a very big void to fill that is of Hardik Pandya, the Singaporean cannot get a bigger opportunity……IMG SRC: Times of India.

Opportunities are mainly for the lesser-known spinners. Mayank Markande makes his way to the playing 11 directly due to the absence of any other specialist spinner. Murugan Ashwin is the other good pick. Both the uncapped spinners have a big void to fill as Mumbai always has had a good spinner be it Bhajji or Rahul Chahar. Mumbai broke the bank for Tim David, which also means he will play 7 out of the 14 games at least. The Singaporeans can leave a mark in these 7 games or more.

Threats for Mumbai Indians:

The biggest threat for Mumbai Indians is their over-dependence on all-rounders. They had a problem last season with the Pandya brothers not firing. They eventually had to play someone in place of Krunal. One of the biggest voids in the absence of one established name in the middle-order. Availability of Jofra next season will however change the dynamics.
