Rohit Sharma’s message to Mumbai Indians after 3 consecutive losses in IPL 2022

Rohit Sharma’s message to Mumbai Indians after 3 consecutive losses in IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma has asked his IPL teammates to show “some desperation and hunger” to seal their first win of the season following three successive losses in the opening three matches.

The five times IPL champions suffered three humiliating defeats in its first three matches of the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Mumbai began its losing streak against Delhi Capitals (DC) and it never stopped as they recently bowed down against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sharma, who is known for his excellent captaincy, said that it’s very crucial for them to have some hunger and desperation to win matches.

“We seriously cannot be blaming individuals here. It’s all of us. We win together, we lose together. That is as simple as that for me,” Rohit said in a passionate speech in the dressing room after the game against KKR.

“I think slight desperation is required from each one of us. That desperation is very, very, very important when we play, especially in this tournament. Because opposition are different, they come up with different plans all the time. We just need to stay ahead of them. We just need to stay on top of them.

“And the only way we can do that is by having that slight hunger and that desperation on the field – with the bat, with the ball,” he added.

The skipper admitted that as a whole team, they have been doing good work on the field, but urged everyone to seize the important moments of the game and let it not slip away from their hands.

“So we are doing some good things. All three games that we’ve played, we’ve done some really good things. It’s just that those little moments, and that indication, you know an individual has to understand, in that period of time when the game is happening,” he said.

“There will be an indication that ‘this is the over’. What we do in that over, those little, little things – that we need to try and squeeze that, and get it towards our side. Get that momentum towards our side.

Rohit indicated that these are still early stages in the ten-team tournament and they don’t need to put their head down in any case. Mumbai Indians still have 11 matches to make a turnaround in the cash-rich Tata IPL 2022.

Interestingly, Mumbai Indians, in the past, have successfully made a drastic turnaround in their performance. During IPL 2015, Mumbai lost its opening four, however, then went on to win the tournament.

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) will play its next IPL 2022 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 9, Saturday.
