Team India scheduled to play 2 practice T20Is on England tour in July 2022: In the latest development, it has been confirmed that the Men in Blues led by Rohit Sharma will be playing two practice matches against England’s County teams. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the development on Friday, 08th April 2022.

The twin T20 practice matches will be played against Northamptonshire and Derbyshire on their respective County grounds. While the fixture with Derbyshire will be held on July 1, India will face Northamptonshire on July 3.

Notably, team India will also face Ireland in two matches T20I series before the start of the India tour of England in 2022. The two T20I matches against Ireland are scheduled to be played on June 26 and 28 in Dublin.

However, it is important to note that the two practice T20 matches will clash with the rescheduled fifth test match against England. India and England will begin the proceedings of the rescheduled fifth test match on July 1 in Edgbaston.

Team India, last year, were scheduled to visit England for a five matches test series. The series got underway pretty well, however, the situation began to worsen after the Indian contingent in England was hit by a string of covid cases. A couple of Indian support staff members, including the head coach, and players returned Covid positive and were sent into mandatory isolation.

The first four Test matches were held smoothly, however, team India were unable to field a proper playing XI in the final fifth test match against England in Old Trafford due to a string of covid positive cases.

The England Cricket Board and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later came to a decision to reschedule the fifth test match, which will now begin on July 1, 2022. The Indian Cricket Board also proposed to play a T20I and ODI series on its next visit.

India will also be playing three T20I matches and as many One Day International games with their English counterparts during the forthcoming tour of the UK.
