In what has been a big blow for the Australian Cricket Team, Tim David has been ruled out of the remainder of the Big Bash League (BBL). Not only this, but he is also doubtful for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will begin on February 7.

While playing for Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL 2025-26, Tim David suffered a hamstring injury against the Perth Scorchers on Boxing Day. It was expected he would be back for the second match but things got worse for him.

Tim David undegoes scans for injury

Tim David’s injury was much worse than expected as he has now been ruled out of the BBL 2025-26. The development was confirmed by his franchise Hobart Hurricanes as they released an official statement.

“Tim David sustained a grade two right hamstring strain during his recent BBL match. As a result, David has been ruled out for the remainder of the BBL.”

Tim David underwent scans and the reports showed that he needs less rehabilitation. The batter might be available for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 but there is no clarity on the same.

Australia will soon name the initial squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. As mentioned by their coach, David is expected to be named in the Australian squad alongside Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood—who have also been under injury clouds this summer.

After the T20 World Cup 2026, Tim David will link up with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The franchise would be hoping that he gets fit for the league and helps them defend the title.
