List of all international matches decided in Super Over ft. SA vs AFG

SA vs AFG was one of the best games in T20 World Cup history.

South Africa carried on their good form in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as they beat Afghanistan in their second game. The Proteas defeated the opposition by runs, registering their second straight win in the tournament at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

South Africa lost captain Aiden Markram early, but after that, it was Quinton de Kock (59) and Ryan Rickelton (61) show. Both the keeper-batters took Afghanistan bowlers to cleaners, registering blistering half-centuries.

Their 114-run partnership for the second wicket put South Africa in a strong position as they looked set for a big total. However, Afghanistan pulled back things well and didn’t let South Africa finish on a high. Dewald Brevis (23) and David Miller (20*) couldn’t go big in the end as South Africa managed 187 for six.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (84) took South Africa off to a flying start with his whirlwind half-century. He along with Ibrahim Zadran added 51 runs for the opening stand, but didn’t get support from others as Afghanistan lost three wickets for 52.

Darwish Rasooli (15) tried to lend him support, but he too failed as Afghanistan were left reeling at 121 five. Soon after that, Mohammad Nabi fell too. Rashid Khan (20) and Noor Ahmad (15) then took the game deep and ended up taking match to super over.

The first super over also ended in a tie and the game went to the second over. That also went to the wire, but it was South Africa, who held their nerve and won the game.
