Mumbai Indians
IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians have been the most successful franchise in the IPL. The Rohit Sharma-led side has won record five titles and has been dominant in the league. But they had a horrendous campaign last year as nothing went their way. It was a dismal outing for Mumbai Indians in the last season.

They were the owners of the wooden spoon as they lost their first eight games on the trot and were the first team to get eliminated from the tournament. Being the most successful franchise, one cannot write them off as they are known for the comeback and have often achieved the laurels after being down. They would be hoping to do something special this year and bag another title.

Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023. They made some good additions to their squad this time around and would be hoping for their 6th title in the league. It’s fair to say that they look strong on paper and if they play to their potential another title isn’t far away.

Talking about their strongest playing 11, it’s a no-brainer that skipper Rohit Sharma along with Ishan Kishan will open the innings for the side. The duo has been opening the batting for the Indian side as well. The keeper batter had a decent campaign last year and he will likely shine this time too. It’ll be an important season for skipper Sharma as he has been underperforming for the last few seasons in the league.

No.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has been batting at No.3 for the team and has been batting exceptionally well at that position. Therefore it is likely that he will continue batting at 3. He will be crucial to the team’s chances this year. Tilak Varma was the lone warrior for his side last year. He was the leading run-getter in IPL 2022 for the team and it is likely that he will bat at No.4. The batter will provide stability to the batting order and the others around him can hit the ball freely.

The Australian duo of Tim David and Cameron Green are likely to be slotted at No.5 and No.6. The duo will be given the finishing role as they are mostly known for their brutal power hitting. They also are likely to play a crucial role with the ball for the team as well.

Jofra Archer has recovered completely from the injury and will be back for Mumbai Indians after missing the last season. He’s likely to lead the bowling attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and also can hit some lusty blows down the order. Spinner Kumar Kartikeya impressed many with his variations last year and he will likely be the spinner in the side.

Young Shams Mulani has been impressive in the domestic circuit. The all-rounder has been doing well with both bat and ball and, likely, he will also start in the team. Jason Behrendorff is expected to be the second overseas pacer in the team alongside Jofra Archer. In the absence of Bumrah, the team might look to okay young Arshad Khan at 11.
