The IPL 2022 has already seen several amazing games. The last game saw the Titans win by 14 runs. The Gujarat Titans were not given much chance before the tournament began but they have started the tournament on a positive note. Shubman was the star last match and so was Lockie. Today, it was the battle of the Kings in the IPL! The Punjab Kings took on the Chennai Super Kings in a humdinger of an encounter. The Punjab Kings were on a roll! Here is an in-depth look at the game:

IPL 2022, PBKS VS CSK, Punjab Kings Batting Innings:

The Punjab King’s batting innings began on a flyer. Mayank lost his wicket early on in the innings but Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone dominated the bowlers. Bhanuka Rajapaksha also tried to attack the bowlers but he was run out! Liam Livingstone was on a roll! He attacked and attacked and attacked! Young Mukesh Chaudary had to pay the price. Mukesh wasn’t bowling poorly but Liam just ragged him a lot. He struck three 4s and two 6s of his over. At the end of the powerplay, PBKS were at a formidable 72-2.

At the end of 10 overs, the score was 109-2. This explains the complete domination of the Kings in the first 10 overs. In the forthcoming few overs, Dwaine Pretorius and Chris Jordan pulled the game back. The CSK team got rid of Livingstone (60 of 32 balls) and the well-set Shikhar Dhawan. Jitesh Sharma also played an amazing but small knock. He was impressive. Odean Smith and Shahrukh Khan couldn’t contribute much as they fell to Jordan but a few hits from Rahul Chahar took the Punjab Kings to 180. At the end of 20 overs, PBKS ended with 180/8.

Brief Scores:

  • Liam Livingstone: 60 off 32 balls.
  • Shikhar Dhawan: 33 off 24 balls.
  • Jitesh Sharma: 26 of 17 balls.
  • Chris Jordan: 2/23.

IPL 2022, Chennai Super Kings Batting Innings (Run Chase):

The Chennai Super Kings were never settled in their run-chase. The poor form of Ruturaj Gaikwad continued when he nicked one ball to the slip cordon. He was out for 1 run. Robin Uthappa scored a boundary but he too perished after scoring 13 runs. Vaibhav Arora was the talk of the town. This bowler from Himachal was bowling mediocre speeds of 125 to 130 but his swing was doing the trick. He can swing the ball both ways. He surprised Moeen Ali with a short ball as well. AT the end of the powerplay CSK’s rib was broken and they were reeling at 27-4!

The next overs again were dominated by the Punjab Kings bowlers. Their influence was all-over the game. Ambati Rayudu got out and the team was scampering at 36-5! Shivam Dube then took charge. MSD was alongside Shivam and guided him. Shivam was looking solid and determined to win the game. He was hitting a boundary every over. But before he could do much damage Liam Livingstone picked his wicket. Whatever Liam Livingstone touched became gold! He was present everywhere in the game. Dwayne Bravo walked in the middle. But an amazing catch from Liam made sure he didn’t contribute to the scoreboard. The Englishman was on fire! The Chennai team immediately collapsed from then on in the next spell from Rahul Chahar. MSD also hit only 1 sixer. CSK ended with 126 and was all-out.

Brief Scores:

  • Punjab Kings win by 54 runs.
  • Shivam Dube: 57 runs off 30 balls.
  • Rahul Chahar: 4/25.
  • Vaibhav Arora: 2/21.
  • Liam Livingstone: 2/25.
