Gameplan: Chennai prepared a much expected XI in the first match, pretty much similar to the one who h got them the title last season. However much to their disappointment and shock many of their highly rated players failed to deliver as per the expectations. Their top order was a major failure against the KKR bowling line up as they couldn't resist Umesh Yadav's pace and threw away their wickets.
The important opening duo of Ruturaj and Conway were dismissed inside the powerplay and the team found itself reeling at 52/4 inside the first 10 overs. In spite of good fightback from M.S.Dhoni Chennai couldn't put up a competitive total and the bowlers ended up conceeding the total with 9 balls to spare.
