Gujarat Titans (GT) appoint Rashid Khan as their vice-captain for IPL 2022: Ahmedabad based Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday appointed Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan as their vice-captain for the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a part of his role, Khan will work closely with Hardik Pandya and the coaches.

Gujarat Titans (GT) is set to make its debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tomorrow as they cross swords against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Wankhede Stadium starting 7:30 PM.

For the unversed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to the Indian Premier League and extended the eight teams affair to ten teams.

Gujarat made the announcement with a post on social media handles with a caption – “In yet another #SeasonOfFirsts, Rashid bhai becomes our vice-captain.”

The franchise drafted-in Rashid Khan ahead of the Tata IPL 2022 auction for a massive sum of INR 15 Crores along with Hardik Pandya (INR 15 Crores) and Shubman Gill (INR 8 Crores).

It will be great opportunity to learn: Rashid Khan

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan is delighted to share the same team with skipper Hardik Pandya in the Gujarat Titans. The duo hasn’t played together in the past as they were in different IPL teams.

Khan in conversation with Boria Majumdar said that Hardik Pandya always bring positive vibes and both of them share a great bond.

“He is a very nice person. We haven’t played together before but with the friendship and bond we share, it still feels like we have been playing together for years now. He is a great guy and always brings in a positive vibe whenever we talk about my game and his mindset,” he said while speaking to Boria Majumdar on the show ‘Backstage With Boria’.

Rashid Khan further added that he will learn as much as possible from Hardik Pandya.

“He is the captain, it will be a great opportunity for me to learn as much as possible. I will also share my experiences of playing in different leagues. “He is a new captain and this is a new team so definitely there will be so many things going on around his mind,” Rashid added.
