BCCI to conduct pre-IPL fitness test for all Indian Players ahead of the IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a comprehensive pre-IPL fitness test for all the players, who will be playing the upcoming Tata IPL 2022. All the IPL bound players, who are not a part of current India’s Test squad which is playing against Sri Lanka in the two matches Test series, have been asked to undergo a fitness test before competing in the IPL 2022.

The Indian cricket board took the step following inputs received from the national selection committee. All the players who are called will take part in a 10-days fitness programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore.

The likes of KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshal Patel etc will head to the NCA soon. Meanwhile, the players who are currently involved in Ranji Trophy matches are asked to report at NCA after their third and final round of the league matches.

All these players will join Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad at the NCA. These three players have sustained injuries are under undergoing their rehabilitation programme.

“There are about 25 of them. The NCA will assess their fitness levels ahead of the IPL. The purpose is to have a camp before they disperse for their respective IPL duties,” said a top BCCI official.

The official also gave an update on the injury of spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel, who has been out of the game since last December.

“Axar Patel is currently undergoing his rehab and is not available for selection for the first Test. He will be assessed later to ascertain his selection for the second Test,” he said.

The fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 26. The final of the lucrative Indian T20 league is slated to be held on May 29.

The entire tournament will be played across four different venues situated in Maharashtra. DY Patil Stadium and Wankhede Stadium will stage 20 league phase games of the IPL 2022 each, while the Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium will host 15 matches apiece.

Meanwhile, the details for the playoffs is yet to be revealed by the BCCI.
