3 Players Mumbai Indians (MI) will target from their previous squad in IPL 2022 Mega Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is going to take a major shift as the teams will be revamped ahead of the tournament. The mega auction will be held by the BCCI to provide a fair playing ground for the two new teams as well as for the teams that were looking for a complete revamp of the squad.

As per the latest development, the IPL 2022 Mega Auction is going to be a two-day affair that will be held on 12 and 13th February in Bangalore. 

Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, the existing franchises were allowed to retain four of their premium players for the coming season. As many as 27 players were retained collectively by the eight IPL franchises. Mumbai Indians (MI) retained the likes of Rohit Sharma, daunting pacer Jasprit Bumrah, flamboyant batsman Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard as their sole overseas option.

The five times IPL champions, Mumbai Indians had several options to pick their top four retentions. There was a tie between Suryakumar Yadav and young Ishan Kishan. 

The Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan, was later released from the squad, even though the franchise wanted to keep him. Moreover, the duo of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya were also released by the franchise.

The choice between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan was a tough one for the Mumbai Indians (MI). Though the franchise went ahead with Suryakumar Yadav, they definitely will be targeting Ishan Kishan in the coming mega auction.

Ishan is known for his aggressive batting at the opening position. He has been a key figure for Mumbai Indians over the last few years. The wicketkeeper-batsman has scored over 1100 runs since 2018 for MI.

Moreover, Ishan was quite amazing as the partner of Rohit Sharma at the opening position. His heroics against SRH, scoring blistering 84 from mere 32 deliveries still give goosebumps.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult has been a performing asset for the men in blue and gold. Boult was traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) during IPL 2019 by Delhi Capitals (DC) in an all-cash deal.

Mumbai’s IPL 2019 and IPL 2020 success largely goes to its bowling unit. Though it was a collective effort of the team, the bowlers accomplished in every possible situation to pave the winning way for the team.

Boult was stupendous in the IPL 2020 in the UAE. he was the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament and second-highest for Mumbai Indians after Jasprit Bumrah. The speedster scalped as many as 25 wickets in 15 matches, most of which came in the powerplays.

The pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult worked in tandem to produce breakthroughs in every possible situation. The franchise would love to reform that pair once again in the IPL 2022.
