Rohit Sharma cleared Preliminary Fitness Test, likely to be added to ODI squad for South Africa: In what comes as delightful news for the Indian cricket fans, opener batsman Rohit Sharma has successfully cleared the preliminary fitness test conducted at the National Cricket Academy. Sharma, who has been appointed India?s new white-ball captain, missed the red ball series against South Africa owing to his hamstring injury.
As per the reports of InsideSports, Rohit has passed the initial fitness test and will undergo another round of tests very soon following which the decision will be derived whether he will be available for the ODI series against South Africa or not.
Sharma was named team India?s new white ball leader replacing Virat Kohli. Moreover, he was elevated to the role of team India?s red-ball vice-captain by the BCCI recently.
?Rohit seems to be fit,? said a close source to the development.
He further added that the NCA officials are not in any kind of rush to mark Rohit fit or unfit.
?He was recovering well and cleared the preliminary fitness test. He is still at the NCA and will undergo a final test likely tomorrow. We don?t want to rush things. We will take a call based on the test,? the source added.

Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja also at NCA
Besides Rohit Sharma all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are also in NCA to regain their fitness. The selectors will also take a call on the other two aforementioned players after conducting their fitness test.
?Axar and Ravindra haven?t completely recovered and are undergoing recovery sessions at NCA. Call on their inclusion will be a last-minute call subject to a fitness test. Again, we don?t want to rush things as we have important series coming up. Also, in South Africa, spinners will play limited roles,? he added.
The reports say that Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a ligament tear while Axar Patel has a stress fracture. Both the players were part of the recently concluded India vs New Zealand 2 matches test series.
