The South Africa Women’s Cricket Team is all set to make history as they are aiming for their first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup title in 2025. Over the past few years, South African women have come close several times but could not lift the trophy. However, this time, they look more confident, balanced, and consistent than ever before. 

South African women have qualified three times in the Women’s World Cup semi-finals but couldn’t make it to the final. But, they have played semi-finals in 2000,  2017, and 2022, and for the fourth time in 2025. From batting to bowling, every department is performing exceptionally in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

South Africa Women’s Journey so far:

South African women have been one of the most consistent teams in recent years. They have reached the semi-finals in the last two editions of the World Cup (2017 & 2022). However, under the leadership of Laura Wolvaardt, the Proteas have built a strong team that has a mix of experienced and young talents. 

As of now, South Africa Women are leading the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Points Table with 10 points and a decent Net Run Rate of +0.276. They have played six matches and won five of them, and beaten teams like India, New Zealand, and Pakistan. 

However, they lost their first match of the tournament against England Women, but after that, they never looked back and won all their games. South Africa Women will be playing their last game against Australia Women on October 25, 2025, at Holkar Stadium in Indore, India.

Marizanne Kapp: The Star Performer

If one player has stood out for South Africa, then it is undoubtedly Marizanne Kapp. She has been exceptional throughout the tournament with back-to-back match-winning performances. Kapp was the player of the match against Pakistan as she played a crucial innings of 68* runs and also took three wickets.

However, along with Kapp, Skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Nonkululeko Mlaba are also doing an exceptional job for their team in the Women’s World Cup 2025. Laura Wolvaadt is the second leading run-scorer of this tournament; she scored 270 runs in 6 matches at an average of 54.00.

South Africa had their last group stage match against the defending champions, Australia, and now, their focus will be to maintain the winning momentum and defeat teams like Australia. This victory will confirm their position as table-toppers in the Women’s World Cup 2025 Points Table and also boost their morale before the knockout stage.

The South African women have never won an ICC Women’s Trophy, but this squad looks determined to change history and register their first title. From the batting to the bowling department, everyone is giving their best, and if they continue this rhythm, South Africa could lift their maiden World Cup Trophy.
