Pakistan was always been a strong contender to lift the trophy in no matter whatever tournament they’ve taken part in so far in their history. The team has displayed some quality performances in white ball cricket in the recent past. Their most recent outings in the T20I format include a 3-wicket loss to Australia in a one-off T20I match at the Gaddafi stadium back in April.
Prior to that, the team had achieved handsome clean sweeps over Bangladesh and West Indies in November and December last year respectively. Lack of match practice in the shortest format of the game in the past few months shall be a big challenge which the players will have to see through during the Asia Cup.
The fact that the team hasn’t played against quality teams for quite some time too will be an issue to overcome from. The team though looks strong in the presence of quality players like Babar Azam, Mohammed Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and others, who shall have a lot of tasks to accomplish in the Asia Cup 2022 that lies ahead.
