The Punjab Kings had retained only 2 players. They went in with Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. They had a big purse left. But they also had a bigger question, how effectively do they make use of the money? They were very good at the auction table this time. They haven’t broken the bank for any player like they do every year. PBKS were steady and calculative in their approach. They have banked experienced players like Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, and Kagiso Rabada.  

2)Presence of X-Factor Players: 

The team has a good balance of reliability and firepower. They have two of the most explosive players on the planet currently in the form of Liam Livingstone and Odean Smith. We were just shown a glimpse of Odean Smith’s firepower in the recently concluded West Indies series. Shahrukh Khan is one player to watch out for. He has been the best finisher in the domestic circuit for over two years now. 

3)Easier Qualification Group in TATA IPL 2022: 

The other factor which works in their favor is them being in an easier group. They are placed alongside teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and RCB who are relatively easier to look at on paper.
