T20 World Cup 2022: Updated Points Table after India vs Pakistan & SLvsIRE match: It would be a lie if any cricket fan says he didn’t have a perfect weekend this time. First Sri Lanka defeated Ireland in the morning game and then India concluded the day with a memorable victory against Pakistan at the “G”.

Sri Lanka completely outclassed Ireland at Bellerive Oval with a nine wickets victory. A comprehensive performance with the ball helped Sri Lanka restrict Irish players to a mere total of 128 runs, followed by a batting masterclass by Kusal Mendis to take his side over the rope.

With the win, Sri Lanka opened its account in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super12s and is now placed second in the Group 1st. The island nation collected a healthy net run rate of +2.467.

Meanwhile, in the second game that saw India take on Pakistan, the former side got its revenge with a four-wicket victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). India won the toss and decided to have a ball first.

The Indian bowlers exploited the conditions on offer and tormented the Pakistani batters. Arshdeep Singh scalped two wickets in the powerplay. But, the Men in Green eventually recovered from the early blow owing to the brilliant knock from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmad. In their quota of 20 overs, Pakistan managed to score 159 runs.

Chasing the total, team India didn’t have an ideal start with two wickets falling. Opener KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were sent back cheaply. Soon, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel also departed after their brief stay in the middle.

However, Virat Kohli had some other plans in his mind. The run machine kept going and punished the odd poor deliveries while rotating the strike regularly. He was partnered by Hardik Pandya, who scored 40 runs from 37 deliveries and helped India take control of the innings.

Virat played one of the best knocks of his career as he plundered an unbeaten 82 runs in 53 deliveries. Owing to sensational knocks from Virat and Hardik, India went over the line with 4 wickets remaining.
