T20 World Cup

ICC recently released the full schedule of the 2022 T20 World Cup that is set to take place in Australia. The tournament will start on 16th October and the final will be played on 13th November. The 2022 T20 World Cup will be special for two reasons – firstly because the number of teams participating has been increased from 12 to 16. And secondly because two T20 World Cups being held in successive years is a pretty rare feat.

The 2022 World Cup will be the 8th edition of the T20 World Cup. West Indies (twice), England, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have all lifted the prestigious trophy so far and it is time to see who will win it in the upcoming edition.

Although all the teams will have a fair shot at the title, there are some teams that are far better prepared than the others for the competition.

In this article, we shall be discussing 4 such teams that have a great preparation for the 2022 T20 World cup and might qualify for the Semi finals.

1. Australia

Things can not get any better for Australia as they are both the hosts and the defending champions. Moreover, the last time a World Cup was held in Australia (2015 World Cup), they ended up winning it. The stats are thus seemingly very favorable for the host nation.

But more so than that, Australia have been playing some brilliant cricket recently. Their performance in the Ashes speaks volumes and they can only improve from here. If the Aussies can focus a little more on T20 cricket, there will be no stopping them.

2. India

Team India have been the powerhouses of World Cricket for the last few years but unfortunately have not had the luck to win any ICC trophy since the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup. They now have a chance to change that record under their newly appointed captain Rohit Sharma who has given the Indian fans new hopes.

Rohit Sharma’s captaincy record in T20 cricket is tremendous and he is the most successful captain in IPL history. Besides, Team India has the strongest squads in the world and they can defeat any team in the world on a good day.

3. England

England are probably one of the best T20 sides in the world right now. They were simply unstoppable in the group stages of the 2021 T20 World Cup but were unfortunately defeated by New Zealand in the Semi finals.

They have a well balanced team which is the key to their success. Although the Australian conditions might trouble the English batters, they can do wonders if they overcome these barriers.

4. New Zealand

The Kiwis have been the most consistent sides across all the formats in the recent past, They won the World Test Championship last year, were the finalists of the 2021 T20 World Cup and were also the finalists of the 2019 ODI World Cup, which they lost to England on basis of boundaries after tying in the Super over.

It can thus be inferred that New Zealand are one of the best cricketing nations in the world right now. It will thus be only logical to assume that New Zealand will make it to the Semis of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia as well. Besides, Australia is known territory for the Kiwis.
