Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill announced as Indian captain and vice-captain for the Asia Cup 2025 - Reports

The Indian Cricket Team have been in the news for the last few months. This is because the Asia Cup 2025 is around the corner and will be a major tournament, considering it will serve as a great preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. 

The Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025 has kept many excited. As per the many media reports, it is learned that the selection committee will be meeting next week in Mumbai and will unveil the strong 16-member squad for the tournament. 

There's no doubt that Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the team, but there has been a lot of speculation over the side's vice-captain. The likes of Axar Patel, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya have been in the news, but there wasn't any clarity on the same. 

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the side, while Shubman Gill will be his deputy in the Asia Cup 2025.

But, as per the reports in Times Now, it is learned that the Indian captain and the vice-captain for the series have been decided. Journalist Vibhu Bhola confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the side, while Shubman Gill will be his deputy in the Asia Cup 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as the captain of the T20I team after Rohit Sharma retired from the format following the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win. However, there hasn't been a permanent vice-captain with selectors picking different players for different series.

Earlier, there were reports which claimed that Shubman Gill has impressed many with his leadership during the test series against England. Under his leadership, the young Indian team ended up drawing the series by a margin of 2-2, winning at Edgbaston and the Oval. 

Gill, who, after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, was named as the white-ball vice-captain, was appointed as the test captain ahead of the England tour. He led from the front and slammed 754 runs in five games, ending as the leading run-getter of the series.
