Tilak Varma has been ruled out of the IND vs NZ T20I series.

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in PTI, it is learned that Tilak Varma is all set to miss the T20I series against New Zealand. Moreover, his participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is also under a clouds.

Tilak Varma, who was in Rajkot playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, complained of acute testicular pain. He was rushed to the hospital for the scans and was diagnosed with Testicular Torsion, the reports of which were sent to BCCI.

Following that Tilak Varma was advised to undergo emergency surgery, which thankfully went well. This means that he will now need a rest for a specific amount of time and is racing against the time to be fit for the T20 World Cup 2026.

A source close to PTI confirmed the same and stated that Tilak Varma is doing well after the injury. He also confirmed that his return will be decided by the medical team. He said:

“Tilak Varma reported acute testicular pain in Rajkot where he is part of the Hyderabad team for the Vijay Hazare tournament. He was taken to Gokul Hospital and on scan was diagnosed with Testicular Torsion (sudden, intense pain) and was advised immediate surgery," a BCCI official told PTI.

"We got an opinion from our specialists who agreed with the same. Tilak underwent successful surgery and is doing well now. We will update you as soon as we have more information on his recovery and expected time frame for his return to play post discussion with the medical panel." The source added.
