Rohit Sharma has proven to be an excellent captain and an outstanding player for the Mumbai Indians. He helped them win five IPL trophies and one Champions League T20 trophy as well. But, he was removed from captaincy in December 2023 and replaced by Hardik Pandya as the skipper and the Mumbai based franchise received a lot of hate from the fans regarding this decision.

Hardik Pandya was constantly getting booed by the MI crowd and wasn’t received well by the crowd as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. After facing three back to back defeats in the first three games of IPL 2024, Mumbai managed to secure their first win of the season against the Delhi Capitals last week.

With the mega auction set to be hosted after the end of IPL 2024, there have been many discussions and news reports regarding Rohit Sharma’s future with the Mumbai Indians. According to some reports, a lot of IPL franchises are eager to secure the services of Rohit for IPL 2025.

The Mumbai Indians won their first IPL title in 2013 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. In fact, all the five IPL trophies of MI have come under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Rohit made his come back to the T20 side of India last year against Afghanistan and he is set to lead the Men in Blue in this year’s 2024 T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies

In a conversation with Star Sports, a reporter asked Ambati Rayudu that will we see Rohit Sharma playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025?

The former CSK player responded in a witty fashion and said, “ I am not sure if the Royal Challengers Bengaluru need Rohit but it looks like you need a headline.”

Rayudu went on to criticize MI’s poor treatment with Rohit Sharma and said that a lot of IPL franchises will be eager to have Rohit as their skipper.

‘It’s his (Rohit Sharma ‘s) call at the end of the day. He can join whichever Franchise he wants and all the IPL franchises would love to have him leading their team’.

Ambati Rayudu also went on to say that Rohit would like to go to a franchise that can treat him properly. ‘I am pretty sure that he would like to go to a franchise that treats him in a better way than the Mumbai Indians’.

As an opener, Rohit has not been at his usual best for the Mumbai based franchise this year as he has managed to score just 118 runs in four games at a poor average of 29.50 with his highest score being 49 runs against the Delhi Capitals.
