Rohit Sharma Named This Bowler as Toughest to Face Ahead Of World Cup 2023

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. As per famous journalist Abhishek Reporter, it is learned that the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) is keen to have him as a captain for the tournament. 

The reports also suggested that Rohit Sharma wanted BCCI to decide immediately who they want as a leader for the T20 World Cup 2024. The governing body didn’t hesitate and told them that they wanted him to captain the team in the upcoming 20-team tournament. 

Rohit Sharma hasn’t played T20Is since the T20 World Cup 2022. BCCI has provided opportunities to youngsters and gave opportunities to Hardik Pandya to lead the team. There were a lot of speculations about if Rohit will play in the shortest format of the game or not. 

However, the recent reports have clarified a lot of things. It is also learned that BCCI is looking at Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill as one of the openers alongside Rohit Sharma for the T20 World Cup 2024. They also are keen to have Ishan Kishan at No.3 for the tournament.

Rohit Sharma opted for the rest in the T20I series against South Africa. The batter is now expected to make a return through the T20I series against Afghanistan in January. The Indian captain is expected to be the only senior batter making a comeback in the shortest format of the game. 

Apart from this, BCCI also has retained Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the team. The governing body was impressed with the way the duo did their job in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023. 

Rohit Sharma to be next seen in action during South Africa series

Indian captain Rohit Sharma hasn’t played any cricket since the end of the ICC World Cup 2023, where he scored 597 runs. The senior batter requested BCCI to give him rest ahead for the white-ball series against South Africa. He, however, will be next seen in action during the Test series against South Africa.
