Punjab Kings likely to part ways with coach Anil Kumble in IPL 2023: Punjab Kings (PBKS) has reportedly decided not to renew the contract of the current head coach of the franchise Anil Kumble. As per the reports, PBKS is set to get a new coach for the role and wants to part ways with Anil Kumble, who served as a head coach and Director of Cricket Operations since October 2019.

Kumble?s contract with Punjab Kings will be valid till September 2022. If PBKS wants to persist with Kumble as the head coach, the contract will be renewed, which is unlikely to happen.

The report of Cricbuzz added that the Punjab-based franchise has reached out to former England skipper Eoin Morgan, former England's World Cup-winning coach, Trevor Bayliss, and a former Indian coach for the role.

While the latter two names seem easy to digest, Eoin Morgan?s name has come as a surprise for everyone. Morgan has recently bid adieu to international cricket and soon after joined the commentary panel. He has no coaching experience so far. It would be interesting to see if Morgan fetches the contract.

Trevor Bayliss is a household name in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has previously successfully worked with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He was England?s coach when they lifted their only ODI World Cup in 2019. Besides IPL WC success, Bayliss has won two IPL titles with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), when Gautam Gambhir was the skipper of the side.?

The name of the Indian coach is not revealed so far in the report.

?The Mohali team has apparently decided not to renew Anil Kumble?s three-year contract, which ends this September. They are already in search of candidates. It is learnt that their representatives have approached the likes of Eoin Morgan, Trevor Bayliss and one former India coach. Eventually one of them or none of them may get the posting. A Punjab Kings official said they will decide in a week?s time,? according to Cricbuzz sources.
