ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan announce updated squad for the T20 World Cup 2021

Pakistan announce updated squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.

Pakistan T20 World Cup 2021 Squad: National selectors committee of Pakistan Cricket on Friday announced its final confirmed squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021, scheduled to be held in the UAE and Oman, starting October 17.

Pakistan and India will open their account in the T20 World Cup on October 24, playing against each other in Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan Cricket has made three changes to its original T20 squad after reviewing the performances of the named players in the National T20 League.

Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain have been replaced by Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali owing to their good outings. Furthermore, Khusdil Shah has swapped its place with Fakhar Zaman, who was initially named as Pakistan squad reserve.

“After reviewing player performances in the highly-competitive National T20 and in consultation with the team management, we have decided to include Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021,” said national selector Muhammad Wasim.

“The three in-form players bring with them wealth of experience and talent, and provide further stability, balance and strength to the side.”

“It must be tough for Azam, Khushdil and Hasnain for missing out but they still have a lot to offer in their careers. They are in our future plans as a lot of cricket has to be played post the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and in the lead up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia,” he added.

Wasim further informed that Sohaib Maqsood’s inclusion in the team will depend upon the medical team’s advice. The cricketer underwent MRI scans earlier this month for his lower back.
