MS Dhoni promises to play in the IPL 2023, says would be unfair for fans without thanking them: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni promises to return in yellow colours in the next edition of the Indian Premier League as he responded to a famous query, whether he will play in the IPL 2023 or not. During the toss of tonight’s IPL 2022 match between CSK and RR, Dhoni confirmed that he will once again don the yellow jersey in the IPL 2023.

The Indian cricket icon said that drawing curtains to his IPL career without thanking Chennai fans would be unfair.

“Definitely, I will play next year. It would be unfair to not play in Chennai. It won’t be nice to the CSK fans. Whether 2023 will be my last year or not, that is something we will have to see,” Dhoni said when asked if he would continue playing for CSK in IPL 2023.

Dhoni is optimistic that in the next IPL season teams will travel to different venues across India and it will lay down a perfect platform for him to thank his fans and supporters all across the country.

“And also, hopefully, next year there will be an opportunity where the teams will be travelling so it will be like a thank you to all the different places where we will be playing games at different venues,” said MS Dhoni.

However, the former Indian skipper didn’t disclose whether the IPL 2023 will be his final IPL season or not.

“Whether it will be my last year or not, that’s a big question because you know we can’t really predict something two years down the line, but definitely, I’ll be working hard to come back strong next year,” he added.

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has made an early exit from the Tata IPL 2022 following a dismal performance in the initial phase of the tournament. CSK was the second team to get eliminated from the playoff race after Mumbai Indians.

CSK has managed to win just four matches after playing 13 so far in the tournament. The defending champions are placed in the penultimate position in the points table.
