IPL 2023: 3 Players Mumbai Indians (MI) can buy in IPL 2023 Auction: Mumbai Indians (MI) would hope for a better outing in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) following their disastrous play in the Tata IPL 2022. MI finished in the last position in the league stage and received a wooden spoon for their miserable performance in the last edition of the Indian Premier League.

While not many had predicted Mumbai’s downfall in the IPL 2022, the fact is that MI sacrificed one IPL season to keep shining in the upcoming seasons of the elite tournament. Their IPL 2022 mega-auction purchases support the fact that they knew they might have to suffer a downfall if things didn’t come out well.

MI were reckoned as a lazy bidder in the IPL 2022 auction. Mumbai remained mostly silent throughout the bidding process and only went bonkers over a few cricketers which include Ishan Kishan, Jofra Archer and Tim David.

Many experts criticised Mumbai Indians (MI) for their ailing auction strategy whereby they spent more than half of their purse value in the purchase of three aforementioned cricketers – Ishan Kishan (15.25 Crore), Jofra Archer (8 Crore) and Tim David (8.25 Crore), but not many knew that the five times IPL champions were inclined to sacrifice one IPL season to form an intimidating side that can easily conquer the tournament in coming few years.

Moreover, MI’s other purchases reiterated the fact that they wanted to build a strong side from scratch once again. The likes of Dewald Bravis, Tristin Stubbs, Tilak Verma, and Hrithik Shokeen are all the stars in making.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2023 auction for Mumbai Indians (MI) will be all about plucking the gaps in their squad. The franchise has retained most of its squad and has its first playing11 in place. This article would lead you through 3 Players Mumbai Indians (MI) can buy in IPL 2023 Auction.

Nicholas Pooran:

While Nicholas Pooran may not be one of Mumbai’s top choices, they certainly want one backup wicketkeeper for young Ishan Kishan. Pooran has been released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2023 auction owing to his string of poor performance.

The Caribbean glovesman is now a free agent and will be looking for a buyer. Nicholas Pooran is a fantastic wicketkeeper and certainly, there will be some bidding war between the teams in the auction hall for his services.

Moreover, if he manages to find his form in the IPL, his batting services in the middle order are second to none in the format. Pooran can whack the opposition quite remarkably and has a knack for producing match-winning performances.

Following the retirement of veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard, a big void has been formed in the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad. It’s definitely not easy to wear Pollard’s shoes, but someone close to his skillset can provide the services.

Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after 12 long years of service to MI and soon after his adieu he was appointed as batting coach of Mumbai Indians.

Sam Curran has been in a mouth-watering form of late. His performances in the T20 World Cup 2022 have brought everyone on their toes. Curran also won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award for his sublime show in the World Cup, which was won by his side, England.

Though it won’t be easy for MI, or other teams for that matter, to fetch Sam Curran’s services from the auction table, they certainly can make a move and try to acquire Curran.

Adil Rashid:

The spin bowling department has always been an issue for Mumbai Indians (MI). Although the issue, sort of, looked solving with Rahul Chahar proving his worth, now again Mumbai are back to square one in the tweaking department.

During the IPL 2022 mega auction, Mumbai released Rahul Chahar and never managed to get him back. Though MI got hold of a couple of fine spinners in Hrithik Shokeen, Mayank Markande and Murugan Ashwin but things didn’t turn out well for the franchise in Blue & Gold.

In the IPL 2023 auction, Mumbai would be in search of a long-term solution for their spin issue and English tweaker Adil Rashid can be their magic man.

Rashid has been phenomenal consistently for England’s T20I side. His recent performance in the T20 World Cup 2022 has proved his worth in gold.
