“We will have to sack every Aussie cricketer,” Maxwell reveals chances of Suryakumar Yadav in BBL: Australian flamboyant all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has shared his thoughts on Indians participating in the Australian club-based Big Bash League. Maxwell reckons, to get Suryakumar Yadav on board to the BBL, the officials will have to sack every player on the roaster and shell out all the gathered money to get SKY’s services.

While there has been absolutely no restriction on overseas players taking part in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian players are not allowed to feature in any overseas league as long as they are associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). For Indians to feature in the foreign cricket leagues, they first need to cut their ties with the BCCI and retire from all forms of cricket.

However, there has been a section of people and experts who have criticized this very policy of the BCCI. People have often called out the cricket board to allow Indian players to participate in foreign leagues. But, the Indian cricket board has remained firm in its resolve and never let Indian players feature in the overseas leagues to maintain the exclusivity of the IPL.

Although Indian cricketers aren’t allowed in overseas franchise cricket, the fans have often found it intriguing to make comparisons and mess around that zone. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Jasprit Bumrah are a few names that would have certainly bagged massive sums if they were allowed in the leagues, apart from IPL.

Recently one more Indian cricketer (Suryakumar Yadav) has joined the list of players who could possibly get a handsome chunk of money if he went on to play in overseas leagues. Everyone is in awe of Suryakumar’s batting style. His wrist work, bat speed and range of shots have made cricket look a far better sport.

In a recent The Grade Cricketer podcast when Glenn Maxwell, who himself is a fine striker of the white ball, was asked whether Suryakumar Yadav can get a BBL record in future or not, he replied:

“We don’t have enough money. There is no chance. We will have to sack every player and the sack every contracted player of Cricket Australia and then hope he takes it.”

The Australian cricketer further explained how far Suryakumar Yadav has come ever since he stepped into international cricket.

“He plays the field so well. His wrists and hand speed is so quick that he’s able to make the last-second adjustments to make sure to get the ball into the gap. Early on in his innings, he plays and misses a little bit cause he goes so hard, tries to put the bowlers under so much pressure. Unless you get him out in those four or five balls, I don’t think you get him out, he’s just so good. The way he plays spin, the way he puts it over cover. He reverses pretty well, sweeps well and is still able to hit the ball straight down the ground. To have that ability to hit the ball all over the ground with so much power (is unbelievable). Whenever a quick bowls fast, all of a sudden, he moves into position so quickly to play the pick-up shot over fine leg for six. And it just goes miles,” he said.
