Once again the ghosts of the past have begun troubling the proceedings of the Tata IPL 2022. As many as five covid cases in the Delhi Capitals (DC) camp put the tournament in a bit of mayhem. Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh along with four non-playing members of the Delhi Capitals have been found covid positive and are currently under isolation.
Earlier, the match between DC and Punjab Kings was scheduled to be held in Pune, however, with a couple of covid cases in Delhi’s camp, the BCCI decided to stage the match in Mumbai only. All the members of the Delhi Capitals will undergo RT-PCR testing in the morning before they head out to train for the match.
DC hasn’t had a smooth IPL 2022 campaign so far. Rishabh Pant and Co have already lost three matches out of five and are placed in the eighth position. They slipped down to a 16-run loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in its last match.
Despite getting solid starts by the openers, Delhi has failed to capitalise on it. The middle-order hasn’t fired to its potential so far which would be a concern for the team going forward.
On the other side, Punjab Kings often start big with their openers scoring at a rate of 9.81 an over during the powerplays. However, their death striking remains a concern. The franchise loses plenty of wickets in the mid-phase which cost them a lot.
Liam Livingstone looks in good touch, however, he is often short of a partner at the other end. Livingstone is the highest run-getter for Punjab with 224 runs.
