IPL 2022: Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap - Updated on May 6th

IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Rishabh Pant-spearheaded Delhi Capitals (DC) conquered Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match number 50 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Both Delhi and Hyderabad came up with a couple of changes in their playing XI. While a few changes were forced to sit down, a couple of them were due to injuries and niggles.

Kane Williamson once again won the flip of the coin and opted to field first. Experienced campaigner Bhuvneshwar Kumar did well in the powerplay to get rid of Mandeep Singh, who was given the opportunity to open with David Warner in place of Prithvi Shaw.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh was also dismissed soon and SRH was on top of DC. Delhi was two down in 37 runs in the powerplay itself. However, Rishabh Pant and David Warner stitched a good partnership to bring back DC on track and put pressure on the opposition.

While David Warner played a scintillating knock of unbeaten 92 runs in 58 deliveries, Rishabh Pant lost his wicket at a score of 26 for 16 balls. Following Pant’s wicket, Rovman Powell came to the crease and made excellent use of his muscles and long levers to smack the opposition.

Rovman Powell played a quickfire inning of 67 runs in just 35 deliveries and helped Delhi Capitals post a total of 207 runs in the loss of three wickets.

In reply to a big total, SRH lost its in form opener Abhishek Sharma. While the batting woes of skipper Kane Williamson continued. Both the openers were sent back to the hut in just 4.2 overs.

Middle-order batter Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran did their best to rescue SRH and took their team close to the total, however, they eventually fell short by 21 runs.

Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their win by 21 runs while Sunrisers Hyderabad’s still searching for that one victory to give them a winning momentum.

DC jumped over Sunrisers Hyderabad following a win, last night and is currently sitting in the fifth position with 10 points from 10 IPL 2022 matches. Their net run rate (0.641) is also very impressive which might help them further to seal a playoff berth.

SRH’s consecutive third loss will be a concern for the team and the skipper. After going through a purple patch of five victories on the trot, SRH seems to have lost its control. Kane Williamson and Co are placed sixth in the points table with a net run rate of 0.325.
