GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the flip of the coin and opted to bat first. Punjab Kings held their lines tight throughout the innings and never let Gujarat’s innings take off. The openers were sent back to the dugout during the powerplay itself pushing the batting side on the back foot right from the start of the innings.

Skipper Hardik Pandya also couldn’t score runs against Punjab’s lethal bowling unit. Barring Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudarshan, none of the Gujarat batters could cross 15 runs mark with their batting.

While Sai Sudarshan came out to be the lone warrior for Gujarat as he scored an unbeaten 65 runs from 50 deliveries. In 20 overs Gujarat Titans managed to below-par 143 runs in the loss of eight wickets.

Punjab Kings came up with a new opening combination in Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow, but, the move failed to fetch good results. Bairstow was dismissed at a score of 1 run. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksha stitched a match-winning partnership of 97 runs after the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow.

Following Bhanuka Rajapaksha’s innings of 40 runs, Liam Livingstone stepped into the field and was in hurry to finish the game off. Livingstone slammed 30 runs in just 10 deliveries and helped PBKS win the match in just 16 overs. Shikhar Dhawan also remained unbeaten at 62 runs.
