IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thumped Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets in match number 47 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in the Wankhede Stadium.

After opting to bowl first, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) successfully got rid of dangerous Jos Buttler in the ninth over following the early dismissal of Devdutt Padikkal. Buttler could only score 22 runs with a poor strike rate of 88. Meanwhile, skipper Sanju Samson played the anchor’s role and amassed 54 runs for the team.

Towards the end, some late blitz from Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer helped Rajasthan Royals post a 152 runs total in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In return, Kolkata Knight Rider’s opening woes seem never-ending. The new opening pair of Aaron Finch and Baba Indrajith failed to provide a solid start to the team. Both the opening batters departed inside the powerplay, putting KKR in trouble.

However, skipper Shreyas Iyer along with senior batter Nitish Rana performed a rescue operation. Iyer scored 32 runs off 30 deliveries and was dismissed by Trent Boult.

Nitish Rana played fine innings of 48 runs from 32 deliveries while Rinku Singh’s blazing knock of 42 runs from 23 balls helped KKR seal the win with five balls to spare. Following five successive defeats, Kolkata finally managed to emerge victorious in the IPL 2022.
