IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings (PBKS) met at the Brabourne Cricket Stadium in match number 60 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The Mayank Agarwal-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) convincingly thrashed RCB and registered a big win by 54 runs.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to field first. Punjab Kings’ openers Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow were outstanding. Both the batters amassed 60 runs in just 4.4 overs and provided a solid ramp for the other batters to come and explode.

Jonny Bairstow began the destruction with his 66 runs from just 29 deliveries. The suit was followed by Liam Livingstone who muscled 70 runs from 42 deliveries. Owing to sensational efforts from Bairstow and Livingstone, Punjab managed to put up 209 runs total in 20 overs.

Once again, Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to provide a quick opening to the team. Wickets began to tumble due to excessive scoreboard pressure. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell showed some fight and was the highest run-scorer for RCB with 35 runs.

In the end, Punjab Kings’ bowling unit reduced RCB to just 155 runs in the loss of nine wickets and won the match by 54 runs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) jumped over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) following a dominating victory against RCB. PBKS has 12 points in their bag with two more matches to go in their campaign. A 54 run win has also boosted their net run rate which has now entered the positive territory (0.023).

Punjab is placed sixth and has a solid chance to give a tough competition to the top fours if they somehow win their next two matches.

RCB, on the other side, are slipping away from the tournament at a crucial moment. The franchise has 14 points with just one game to go in their campaign. Their net run rate isn’t encouraging either (-0.323). RCB will play against Lucknow in their last match and the pressure will be on them to win the match and continue to be in the race.
