IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap - Updated on 29th April

IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: In match number 41 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) trounced Shreyas Iyer-spearheaded Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by four wickets in the Wankhede Stadium.

Kolkata continued its losing streak in the match against DC after most of their recognised batters were dismissed for a single-digit score. KKR’s batting woes seem never-ending as only Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana managed to get some score against their names that helped their side put up a total of 146 runs in 20 overs.

Shreyas Iyer scored 37-balls 42 while Nitish Rana completed his half-century.

In response to a sub-par total, Delhi’s David Warner began the assault and amassed 42 runs in just 26 deliveries. To finish things off nicely for Delhi, power hitter Rovman Powell hammered 33 in 16 deliveries and took Delhi over the line. DC chased down the total of 148 runs with one over to spare and bagged two crucial rating points.

With the victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), last night, in the Wankhede Stadium, Delhi jumped one place and is currently sitting at the sixth spot with four wins and as many losses in eight matches. Though Rishabh Pant and co still have a lot of work to do to get the ticket to the playoffs, the win over KKR would help them with the confidence.

KKR on the other side registered its fifth straight loss. Despite starting well in the tournament, KKR have seen a decline in their performance. With just three wins from nine matches, KKR currently sits at the eighth position just above Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

Though Shreyas Iyer’s 42-run knock couldn’t help his side fetch a victory against Delhi, it certainly lifted his total score to 290 runs in nine outings. Iyer is currently placed in the fifth position in the orange cap race and is the highest-ranked KKR player.

DC opener David Warner’s consistency, of late, has resulted in him featuring in the top ten of the points table. Warner jumped over his teammate Prithvi Shaw and is presently sitting in the ninth place after scoring 26-ball 42.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler remains the biggest hunter followed by KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.
