Mohammed Shami was the wrecker-in-chief behind India’s 90-run win in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The fast bowler produced a peach of a spell in the must-win clash for his team. When the chips were down he stood tall and powered his team to victory.

India set a gigantic total of 397 runs on the board. It seemed that they would carve their way to the easy victory but that wasn’t the case. New Zealand put up a great fight and went toe to toe in the chase. At one moment it seemed that they would win but Mohammed Shami brought his team back.

The pacer removed both the New Zealand openers early. But the partnership between Daryl Mitchell (134) and Kane Williamson (69) brought New Zealand back into the game. However, Mohammed Shami delivered at the right time and removed the Kiwi skipper.

After that, he continued his carnage on the New Zealand batter and picked wickets from time to time. The fast bowler picked seven wickets and returned with the figures of 7/57 to help his side win the game. Thanks to his stupendous effort, India bundled out Kiwis for 327 runs and won the game by 70 runs.

Earlier with the bat, it was a sensational outing for India. Rohit Sharma (47) and Shubman Gill (80*) yet again provided their team with a fiery start. After that, Virat Kohli (117) and Shreyas Iyer (105) slammed magnificent centuries before KL Rahul (39*) played a cameo to take India to a big total of 397 runs.
