The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (5th January) announced the schedule for the T20 World Cup 2024. The event will be played from 1st to 29th June in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean. 

As many as 20 teams will be taking part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and it will be for the first time that this many teams will take part. The governing body has made 4 groups with 5 teams each and the top two teams from each group will advance to the super 8 stage. 

The USA will host 16 matches whereas the Caribbean will see 42 games played across six different.  The semi-finals will be played in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. Where the summit clash is all set to be played in Barbados on 29 June. 

Coming to the Indian Cricket Team, they will begin their campaign against Ireland on 5th June and then will be locking horns against Pakistan on 9th June. The Men in Blue then will play the USA on 12th June before ending the league stage against Canada on 15th June.

The ICC also released the poster for the T20 World Cup 2024. What caught the attention of many was it was Rohit Sharma, who was representing India. The batter is currently the captain of the team in all three formats but since the last World Cup, he hasn’t captained the team or either played. 

Since the last few months there have been a lot of questions revolving around the availability of Rohit Sharma for the T20 World Cup 2024. There has been no clarity about if he will be there for the team in the shortest format or not.
