Gautam Gambhir named Rohit Sharma as the only player who troubled him as KKR captain: Former Indian cricketer and IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir lavish praises on Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma. Gambhir hailed Rohit for his sensational records as the captain of Mumbai Indians.

The cricketer-turned commentator admitted that he wasn’t worried at all with the explosive batters like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. Though the two aforementioned comes with branded tags of a destructive batsman, Gambhir was unfazed with that. 

However, the two times IPL winning skipper for KKR admitted that MI skipper Rohit Sharma had kept him awake and has given several sleepless nights during his captaincy stint at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

“As captain, Rohit Sharma is the only player who gave me sleepless nights. Neither Chris Gayle nor AB de Villiers nor anyone else, only Rohit Sharma. He is the player who gave me sleepless nights.” There is no more successful cricketer in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) than Rohit Sharma as captain,” said Gautam Gambhir in conversation with Star Sports.

Mumbai Indians (MI) identified Rohit Sharma as the man to lead Mumbai Indians midway through IPL 2013 after then skipper Ricky Ponting decided to step down from the leadership role. Since taking Mumbai’s captaincy Rohit has touched the sky with his several records.

Currently, he is the only captain in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with five IPL titles. During his debut IPL season, Sharma led Mumbai Indians to the road of victory and since then it was no looking back for the Mumbai batter.

Rohit Sharma is also one of the most prolific batter IPL has ever seen. With a healthy average of 31, Sharma has mustered over 5600 runs in 213 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rohit Sharma has etched his name in MI’s history books: Irfan Pathan:

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also heaped praises on Indian skipper as he reckons that Rohit has etched his name in Mumbai Indians history books. With five IPL titles under his belt and many more to come in the following years, Rohit has been in a superlative run when it comes to leading an IPL side.

“Rohit Sharma will always be remembered in the history of Mumbai Indians and IPL. Rohit Sharma’s name is forever on top for Mumbai Indians,” said Irfan Pathan, former Indian all-rounder.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) will begin their upcoming Tata IPL 2022 campaign with a clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 27th at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.
