CSK unlikely to call for Deepak Chahar’s replacement in the Tata IPL 2022: Reports: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly not naming any replacement for injured pacer Deepak Chahar in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The reports suggest that the franchise hasn’t found any Indian bowler of Deepak Chahar’s calibre and hence decided not to name any replacement.

A couple of days ago, CSK sustained a huge blow after their premier pacer Deepak Chahar was completely ruled out of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Chahar was undergoing his rehab for a quadriceps tear at the NCA and was expecting to make a comeback following his recovery, however, destiny had some other plans booked for the pacer. While undergoing his quadriceps rehab, Chahar picked up a back injury which laid down all the possibilities of his comeback in IPL 2022 to rest.

Deepak Chahar was purchased by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 14 Crores after fighting bidding wars with a couple of franchises during the player’s auction held in February.

Reports indicated that experienced pacer Ishant Sharma and former MI speedster Dhawal Kulkarni were two of the most probable candidates who can replace Deepak Chahar in CSK.

“We have left it to the team management and they have not come back to us so far. We do not find an Indian bowler of Deepak’s calibre,” franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.

Chahar has played 63 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in which he has successfully managed to pick 59 wickets at a decent economy of 7.80 after making his debut back in 2016. The right-arm pacer was extensively used by CSK in powerplays to make use of his skills to move the ball both ways through the air.

Deepak Chahar’s absence has been felt in the CSK camp ever since the start of the IPL 2022. He used to provide CSK with crucial early breakthroughs during the powerplay.

Following four consecutive defeats in the IPL 2022, CSK somehow managed to seal a win for themselves defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high scoring thriller. Ravindra Jadeja and Co are presently seated in the penultimate position with mere 2 points in their bag.
