Clouds are hovering over the place of Virat Kohli in the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. As per the reports in Danik Jagron, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not keen to have the batter in the squad for the upcoming tournament, slated to take place in June next year.

The reports suggested that selectors will convey to Virat Kohli soon that he isn’t in their plans for the T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI wants to include young players in the team, who can take on the bowlers right from the start, which isn’t Kohli’s style of play. 

The reports added that BCCI is likely to bat Ishan Kishan at No.3 as it’ll allow them to have a keeper in the top 3. The governing body is also likely to back Yashasvi Jaiswal as an opener in the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. The young batter has impressed many with his staggering performances of late.

Virat Kohli hasn’t featured in a T20I game for India since the last T20 World Cup. He along were other seniors of the team were sidelined by the management as they allowed youngsters to take the role and build a strong core for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The class of Virat Kohli is unmatched and it’s fair to say that if he misses out from the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, it’ll be a big loss for India. For more than the last one decade, he has been the backbone of the team in all three formats of the game. He also has a record of most times 200+ runs in a T20I tournament or series by Indian players as he has achieved the feat 5 times in his career. 

Rohit Sharma to captain India in the T20 World Cup 2024 – Reports 

Apart from the reports related to Virat Kohli, it is also learned that Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian captain wanted BCCI to decide immediately who they want as a leader for the T20 World Cup 2024. 

The choice was between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, who has been leading the T20I team since the last one year. BCCI reportedly backed Sharma and told him that he should india in the T20 World Cup 2024. It remains to be seen what will be the roadmap of the team for the upcoming tournament.
