AUS vs PAK 3rd Test 2024: Steve Smith Wants to be A Opener After David Warner’s Retirement From Test CricketThe Australian Opener David Warner is playing his last test match since he announced his retirement from International Test and ODI cricket but he can return to the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With This, an opening spot is left in the Australian Team however, Steve Smith showed his deep interest in opening in Test Cricket.

There are lots of options for the Australian Team Management to fill the one vacant opening position in Test Cricket. In the recent developments, Youngster Cameron Green is expected to open in the test cricket for the Australian Team with Usman Khawaja. Green proved himself in this position during the test series against India last year as he played exceptional cricket and scored lots of runs. 

However, Travis Head can also be a possible option for the Usman Khawaja’s opening partner in the Test Cricket. Cricket Australia will soon announce their squad for the two-match test series against West Indies. After this, We might get to know about the new test opening pair of the Australian Team.

Steve Smith has performed exceptionally well in test cricket especially at no.3 as he has an average of 67.07 at this position whereas have an average of 61.46 at no.4 position. As of now, Steve Smith is playing at no. 4 position in test cricket but currently, he is struggling with his form and wants to bounce back with a new start at the new position.

AUS vs PAK 3rd Test, Pakistan have a lead of 82 runs after Day 3 stumps:

Australia and Pakistan are playing the final and third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Currently, the Australia Team is leading this three-match test series by 2-0 and is expected to win the test series by 3-0. 

Pakistan batted first and they made a decent 313 runs on the scoreboard in their first inning, Mohd. Rizwan and Aamir Jamal played fantastic cricket, therefore they scored 88 and 82 runs, respectively. Australian Skipper Pat Cummins took five wickets in this inning whereas Mitchell Starc took two wickets.

Australia came to bat in their first inning, and they started well but their lower order collapsed hence they got all out by scoring 299 runs. Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh scored 60 and 54 runs, respectively whereas Pakistan Medium Pacer Aamir Jamal took six wickets.

Currently, Pakistan has scored 68 runs with a loss of 7 wickets in their second inning, Saim Ayub and former captain Babar Azam scored 33 and 23 runs, respectively whereas other players couldn’t score 10+ runs in this inning. Josh Hazlewood bowled phenomenally on Day 3 and put Pakistan on the back-foot as he took four wickets in this inning so far.
