ICC WTC Points Table Updated After Australia’s Dominating 4-1 Ashes Win Against England 2026
Australia’s emphatic victory in the Sydney Test has done far more than secure the Ashes. By completing a 4-1 series win over England, Pat Cummins’ side have tightened their grip on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 points table, placing themselves firmly in pole position for a spot in the final.
With the SCG win, Australia now sit comfortably atop the standings with 87.50 percent of the available points, which is the best return in the current cycle. Seven wins out of eight matches underline their consistency, while the Ashes result has given them a crucial cushion over the chasing teams. In a competition where percentage matters more than volume, Australia’s ability to convert victories has set them apart.

New Zealand remain the closest challengers. The Black Caps’ recent series success against the West Indies has lifted them to second place with 77.78 percent, although they have played only three Tests so far. South Africa, meanwhile, continue to apply pressure in third position with 75.00 percent, keeping the race for the top two spots finely balanced.
It has proved costly for England, though, as the defeat in the Ashes has left them stranded in seventh place with just 31.67% points from ten matches, and a points deduction, making a push for the WTC final increasingly unlikely. Bangladesh and the West Indies bring up the rear, neither able to gain any momentum thus far in this cycle.
While some important series remain to be played, Australia's position at the top of the table is now strong enough for them to dictate their own fate in the WTC. The rest, however, face heavyweight Tests every time out thereafter.
